On January 20, 2025, a routine traffic stop by the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office turned into much more when deputies pulled over Michael Callan Davis for failing to stop at a stop sign. With the assistance of K9 Xena, deputies discovered two large knives inside the vehicle. Davis, a convicted felon, resisted deputies and became argumentative during the arrest.
Once transported to the DeSoto County Jail, detention deputies uncovered 3.56 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia hidden in Davis’ private area during a body scan. Davis now faces multiple charges, including possession of a concealed weapon by a convicted felon, introduction of contraband into a detention facility, possession of a controlled substance, resisting an officer without violence, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
This case highlights the hard work of our deputies and the critical role of tools like the body scanner to ensure the safety of our community and our detention facility.
