DeSoto County Makes Arrest Of Registered Sex Offender

SHARE NOW
On 2/3/2025, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) notified the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division that sex offender, Crei Edwards, had not completed his bi-annual re-registration which was due by midnight 1/31/2025. That same day, an arrest warrant was obtained, and Edwards was arrested for failure to comply with sexual offender registration requirements, which is a third-degree felony.
REGISTERED sex offenders and predators in the state of Florida must abide by a lengthy list of registration requirements, set forth by Florida Statute; one of which being, they must complete a FDLE registration either two or four times per year depending on their criminal CONVICTION.
The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office takes sex offender compliance very seriously and Sheriff Potter has a zero-tolerance policy regarding sex offender violations. When a possible violation is reported or observed, the Criminal Investigative Division (CID) investigates to determine if there is reliable EVIDENCE that, if presented before a jury, proves that a criminal offense has been committed.
