Sunseeker Resort in Charlotte Harbor to Be Acquired by Blackstone for $200 Million
Blackstone Real Estate announced Monday that it will acquire the Sunseeker Resort in Charlotte Harbor for $200 million. The property, previously owned by Allegiant Travel Company, has been on the market since Allegiant disclosed plans to sell it during its 2024 fourth-quarter earnings call in February.
The resort, which opened significantly over budget—by roughly $225 million—also sustained $5.7 million in hurricane damage last fall following Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
Roughly a year after opening, Allegiant confirmed it would seek to sell at least a majority stake in the property. During the fourth quarter, Sunseeker reported a 54% occupancy rate with an average daily room rate of $238.
In a news release announcing the purchase, Scott Trebilco, Senior Managing Director at Blackstone, praised the resort and shared his outlook on the investment.
“The acquisition of this brand-new, highly amenitized resort demonstrates our strong conviction in hospitality and travel and the continued growth in group-oriented destinations. Allegiant has built a fantastic property, and we look forward to bringing our extensive experience with large-scale resorts to Sunseeker,” said Trebilco.
The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2025, pending standard closing conditions.
