On October 22, 2022, DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to SW Shores Avenue after a verbal altercation escalated into violence. During the confrontation, the suspect, Donald Henry, stabbed the victim in the upper chest. The victim tragically succumbed to his injury within minutes across the street.
After a thorough investigation by our Criminal Investigative Division (CID) detectives and a lengthy court process, this case proceeded to trial. On Friday, the trial concluded with a swift jury deliberation and Henry was found GUILTY of Second Degree Murder, as well as Witness Tampering. He awaits sentencing in October.
This verdict is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our deputies, detectives, and the State Attorney’s Office who never stopped pursuing justice.
