USDA Disaster Assistance Available

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) offers emergency aid programs for families, farmers, and rural communities affected by natural disasters.

  • Food Assistance: Apply for SNAP and other food aid at your local USDA office. Find locations at www.fns.usda.gov. Tribal members may also contact the Bureau of Indian Affairs: www.bia.gov/regional-offices.

  • Farm Service Agency Loans: Emergency loans of up to $500,000 are available for production or property losses in disaster-declared counties. Applications must be filed within eight months of a disaster designation.

  • Crop Programs: Farmers may qualify for federal crop insurance or the Non-Insured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP). More details at FSA’s website.

  • Rural Development Aid: Housing, business, and utility recovery support is available at www.rd.usda.gov.

  • Technical Help: For livestock and crop emergencies call USDA APHIS at 1-844-820-2234. For food safety questions, call the USDA Meat & Poultry Hotline at 1-888-674-6854.
