Pedestrian Fatality in Desoto County
Desoto County, FL – At approximately 6:06 AM on Saturday, September 6, 2025, the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a traffic crash at US 17 and Heard Street in Desoto County.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Vehicle 1, a Ford Fiesta, was traveling south on US 17 when it struck Pedestrian 1, a 66-year-old male, who was attempting to cross the roadway at a marked crosswalk.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene. The crash remains under investigation.
