Sheriff Hoffman Addresses Synagogue Fire Investigation in Punta Gorda
SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — Sarasota County Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman issued a statement following a suspicious fire at a synagogue in Punta Gorda over the weekend, which the Punta Gorda Police Department is investigating as a potential hate crime.
Sheriff Hoffman made clear that such acts will not be tolerated in Sarasota County.
“As Sheriff, this type of crime will not be tolerated in Sarasota County. Any criminal activity directed at religious schools or institutions will be met with the full force and capability of this agency,” Hoffman said.
The Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to remain vigilant and to immediately report any information regarding planned or suspected criminal activity.
