3-Year-Old Dies After Being Struck by Jeep in Walmart Parking Lot, FHP Says
ENGLEWOOD, Fla. — A 3-year-old boy has died after being struck by a Jeep in the parking lot of the Walmart located at 2931 South McCall Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the crash happened as a 2018 Jeep, which had been parked facing west, began moving forward and turning right. At the same time, the child — who had been standing near his family’s vehicle while his mother placed an infant sibling inside — walked in front of the Jeep and stopped.
The front of the vehicle struck the child. He was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the Jeep, a 27-year-old Englewood woman, was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
