All Faiths Food Bank is facing one of its busiest seasons, and they’re asking the Suncoast community to step up. From May through September, the organization needs approximately 800 volunteers to staff 60 outdoor mobile food pantries across Sarasota and DeSoto counties. The mission is straightforward but urgent: make sure local families and children don’t go hungry when school meal programs end for the summer.
Summer is when food insecurity peaks for families in our region. Without school lunches, children lose access to free or reduced-price meals they depend on. Simultaneously, families already struggling with rising grocery prices and living costs face even tighter budgets. And here’s the catch—many seasonal volunteers leave the area during summer, just when the food bank needs them most. That’s why All Faiths launched the Campaign Against Summer Hunger, partnering with local schools and community organizations to provide nutritious meals to kids who would otherwise go without.
