Live Music Weekend on the Suncoast: Bruno Mars, The Strokes, and Free Local Shows from Bradenton to Naples

The Gulf Coast has a loaded weekend of live music ahead, September 11 through 13. Tampa carries the marquee names: Kehlani headlines MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre Friday at 6:30, Grupo Frontera takes the Yuengling Center Friday at 8, The Strokes play Benchmark International Arena Saturday at 7, and Bruno Mars rocks Raymond James Stadium Saturday and Sunday at 7 PM. Two nights in one stadium is a rare treat for Tampa Bay.

Closer to home, the local scene keeps the weekend humming. Waterfront bars, grills and clubs across Bradenton, Cortez, Sarasota, Punta Gorda, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Bonita Springs and Naples are hosting rock, blues, country, reggae and dueling piano acts, many with no cover charge. It’s the kind of weekend that supports area musicians and gives retirees and snowbirds an easy night out without crossing the Skyway.

Before you head anywhere, call the venue or check its page, since schedules can change. The Suncoast Post compiled the full guide with times, addresses and phone numbers. So what’s your pick: stadium spectacular or a waterfront seat with a cold drink? Tell us where you’re headed.
