Southwest Florida International Airport welcomed 680,168 passengers in July 2026, a 5.7 percent decline from the same month last year. Before you read anything into one soft summer month, consider the bigger picture: through the first seven months of the year, passenger traffic at RSW is down just 0.04 percent compared to 2025. That’s about as flat as flat gets, and it comes after a record-setting 2025 that saw more than 11.1 million travelers pass through the Fort Myers airport.
Delta remains the dominant carrier at RSW, flying 166,696 passengers in July. American, Southwest, United and Breeze round out the top five, and together those airlines account for 86 percent of the airport’s traffic. There was an interesting split between the two airports this month: commercial aircraft operations at RSW fell 3.5 percent to 6,129, while general aviation operations at Page Field jumped 30 percent to 14,968. In other words, the airlines had a quieter month while private, charter and training flights picked up the slack.
The terminal expansion continues as well, with security being consolidated into 16 lanes and 117,000 square feet of new space being added, all funded without local property-tax revenue. That matters in a region where RSW generates $8.3 billion in annual economic activity and supports more than 60,000 jobs. For local travelers, the takeaway is simple: the airport is investing in the future even during a soft patch, and your next flight out of Fort Myers is only going to get smoother.
