A Hillsborough County man who ignored a trespass warning ended up in custody faster than he probably expected, thanks to a sheriff’s office drone watching from above. Keilos Ferdinand, 26, was cited for trespassing at a home on Sept. 12 and told not to return. Less than an hour later, the drone was back on him, spotting him at the same residence. Deputies watched from the air as he used a pocketknife to slash the homeowner’s car tires, according to the sheriff’s office.
The drone team then coordinated with ground deputies, guiding them directly to Ferdinand, who was taken into custody. It’s one of the clearest examples yet of how drone-assisted policing works in real time, catching property destruction as it happens instead of relying on reports after the fact.
For anyone on the Suncoast thinking a trespass warning isn’t a big deal, this is the reminder: the line deputies draw is real, and crossing it can turn a citation into criminal charges in a hurry. Vandalizing tires isn’t a minor inconvenience either. It’s a property crime that leaves victims with real costs. Have you noticed drone patrols in your area, and do they make you feel safer?
