A 16-year-old girl reported missing in Springfield, Ohio, on December 2, 2025, was found alive on August 21, 2026, inside the home of Jobe Binkley, a 48-year-old former teacher with the Springfield City School District. That’s 263 days. According to police, officers had visited Binkley’s home twice during the search, and both times he refused them entry and told them she wasn’t there. When an officer arrived on August 21, Binkley allegedly acknowledged the teen was inside, and she walked out of the home.
Binkley now faces one count of interference with custody, a first-degree misdemeanor. He has pleaded not guilty and is released on bond, with a pretrial hearing set for later this month. The Springfield City School District fired him in February for violating its policy on technology use, and it remains unclear how he and the teen knew each other or whether he had ever been her teacher.
