Zane was born with a limb difference, and by the time he was 4 months old, he’d been referred to Shriners Children’s St. Louis. Eight years later, the hospital’s pediatric orthotic and prosthetic team has built him 14 devices. He’s broken most of them, and honestly, that’s the point. Zane plays soccer, baseball, basketball, and hockey, and he wants to be a professional athlete. As he puts it, the devices let him run, jump, and do whatever he likes.
So Zane decided to give back. He organized his own baseball fundraiser for the hospital and raised close to $4,000. His reason is simple and worth repeating: there are kids who would never get to do those things if it weren’t for the funds donated to Shriners.
Shriners Children’s St. Louis will hold its Day of Giving on September 24.
