New 30,000-Square-Foot Hangar Opens at SRQ, Bringing Jobs to the Suncoast

Aircraft Services Group cut the ribbon on a 30,000-square-foot hangar at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport on Oct. 1. The facility on Warhawk Place is now the company’s Sarasota headquarters and is set up to house private jets, luxury cars, and a lounge, all part of a push to meet growing demand for private aviation at SRQ.

The expansion brings new jobs to the area, including positions in ground crews, maintenance, piloting, and charter sales. Company president Andrew Reenstra and CEO Peter Cuomo both say the goal is to keep growing, and they’ve already identified an adjacent lot where a second hangar could go up if demand continues.

For Suncoast residents, the new hangar is a sign of continued economic growth, but it also raises questions about noise and traffic near the airport. As private aviation picks up at SRQ, how the growth is managed will matter to the neighborhoods surrounding it. What do you think: is this expansion good for our community, or should there be more conversation about its impact on nearby residents?
