Sempio Food Services is recalling roughly 4,596 pounds of ready-to-eat Korean ginseng chicken stew, and Florida is one of eight states where the product was distributed. According to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the imported pouches never received the required reinspection after entering the United States. No illnesses or injuries have been reported, but officials are concerned some of the stew is still sitting in home pantries.

The recall covers 31.75-ounce pouches of Sempio Korean Ginseng Chicken Stew Classic and Rich. Look for a production date of March 30 and a best-by date of September 29, 2027, along with Korean establishment number GIA15001 and shipping mark MK-2026-0422-01. Besides Florida, the stew went to distributors and retailers in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

If you find an affected pouch at home, don’t eat it. Throw it away or return it to the store where you bought it. Retailers have been asked to stop selling the product. For Suncoast shoppers who keep imported pantry staples on hand for storm season, this is a good moment to give the cupboard a quick once-over.
