A driver in West Chester Township, Ohio, got a surprise Thursday night that no one could have planned for: a pineapple through his Tesla’s windshield. According to police, it was the third report that evening of objects thrown from a passing vehicle. Earlier callers had reported eggs and ice. When officers stopped a suspect vehicle, they noticed dried egg yolk on it, which tied the stop to the earlier complaints.
Four people now face charges. Jacob Braun and Bronson Moore, both 18, were charged with complicity and vehicular vandalism. Danden Schlake, 18, was charged with complicity, and a 17-year-old was charged with complicity and vehicular vandalism. The charges are a reminder that what looks like a prank can carry real legal weight, especially when a moving vehicle and a shattered windshield are involved.
For those of us on the Suncoast, road debris is hardly a foreign concept. Between hurricane season cleanup, red tide cleanup crews, and the occasional mystery object on I-75, we know how quickly a drive can turn. But produce as a projectile is a new one. The takeaway is simple: damage to someone’s property is not a joke to the person paying for it.
