TNA’s biggest pay-per-view of the year is in Tampa Sunday night, and the main event carries real stakes. Nic Nemeth defends the TNA World Championship against Leon Slater, a former X Division champion from the UK who gave up his own belt just to get this match. Win, and Slater’s gamble pays off in the biggest way possible. Lose, and he walks away with no championship and, according to Nemeth, no rematch.
The Nemeth family story adds another layer. Nic already holds the TNA tag team titles with his brother Ryan. If Ryan also captures the X Division title Sunday, the brothers would hold every championship in the promotion at the same time, a storyline that wrestling fans rarely get to see.
For Suncoast residents, this is an easy night out. Tampa is a short drive from Sarasota, Bradenton, and the beach communities, and the area has long been a wrestling town between spring training crowds, snowbirds, and a packed arena calendar. Bound For Glory is billed as the show where careers change, and this year’s main event lives up to that billing.
