The Tampa Bay Rays are heading to Cleveland with the ALCS tied at one game apiece after a 3-1 win over the Guardians on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. Freddy Peralta set the tone on the mound, and the offense broke through in the fourth inning when Ben Williamson reached on a Jose Ramirez error that scored Victor Mesa Jr. Liam Hicks followed with a two-run single, and the Rays had all the runs they would need.
Cleveland made it interesting in the seventh with a Chase DeLauter RBI double, but Ian Seymour entered and stranded two runners to end the threat. Bryan Baker took care of the ninth, and just like that, the series is even. Tampa Bay’s bullpen has been the story of the postseason so far, and Tuesday night was no exception.
Now the series shifts north for Game 3 on Thursday at 6 p.m. The Rays will look to take control of the pennant race on the road, while Cleveland tries to protect home field. Plenty of Suncoast baseball fans will be tuning in, and the question is simple: can Tampa Bay keep this rolling away from the Trop?
