Early Voting Opens Monday in Sarasota County: 11 Sites, Weekend Hours, Two New Locations

Early voting for the November 3 general election begins Monday, October 19 in Sarasota County, and it runs daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. through Sunday, November 1. Yes, that includes weekends. Voters can cast a ballot at any of the county’s 11 early voting sites, so your assigned precinct doesn’t matter during this window. The North Port Elections Office and Twin Lakes Park join the list as new locations this cycle, giving residents in the southern part of the county shorter drives to the polls.

If you’re a snowbird getting ready to head north for the season, or you simply can’t swing a trip to the polls on a Tuesday, those two weeks and weekend hours are worth planning around. Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner calls in-person early voting a convenient way to cast your ballot before election day, and with eleven locations spread across libraries, parks, and elections offices, there’s likely one close to your regular errands.

Sample ballots have already been mailed and are also available at SarasotaVotes.gov, where you can find the site nearest you. Bring a valid photo ID with signature when you go. Which early voting location is closest to your neighborhood, and have you tried it yet?
