Breezy, Sunny Sunday on the Suncoast: Farmers Markets Open From Sarasota to Anna Maria

SHARE NOW

Sunday morning on the Suncoast feels a whole lot better than it did 24 hours ago. A cold front moved south overnight, and it took the humidity with it. Expect plenty of sunshine, highs near 80 at the beaches, and a steady northeast breeze with gusts of 20 to 30 mph, strongest this afternoon. Great weather for being outside, just plan for the wind if you’re carrying anything light.

The markets are open and busy. Lakewood Ranch Farmers Market at Waterside Place in Sarasota runs 10 AM to 2 PM with music from Jesse Daniels, and the BotTanks robotics team is on site with STEM activities for school-aged children, so it’s worth bringing the kids along. Wellen Park Farmers Market in Venice opens earlier, 9 AM to 1 PM at 19745 Wellen Park Blvd. The seasonal Coquina Beach Market on Anna Maria Island is also open on Sundays, part of its Wednesday, Friday and Sunday schedule.

For anyone heading to the sand, surf is running 1 to 2 feet with a moderate rip current risk. There’s no lightning threat in the forecast, but the wind will make the water choppier than it looks. Swim near a lifeguard when you can. The drier air sticks around into the new week, which means more mornings like this one.
