Report: Jay-Z Set for First-Ever Super Bowl Halftime Show at Super Bowl LXI

Puck reported early Tuesday that Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show, citing sources. If it’s confirmed, it would be the first Super Bowl halftime performance of his career, which is a strange sentence to write about an artist with decades of hits. The report said he was viewed as a more compelling option than Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber, both of whom were reportedly considered.

There’s a wrinkle worth knowing. Roc Nation has been the NFL’s live music company since 2019, and a 2024 contract renewal gave Jay-Z curation and production duties for the halftime show. So the man reportedly in line for the stage is also involved in choosing who takes it. The NFL has not confirmed a headliner, and Roc Nation did not respond to Billboard’s request for comment.

Super Bowl LXI is set for Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. That’s Valentine’s Day, a long way from the Suncoast, but the halftime show is the one part of the night everyone at the watch party actually pays attention to. Who would get your vote for the halftime stage?
