A 30-year-old Sterling, Virginia, mother named Rosellena Pisani has been arrested and charged with homicide, two counts of child abuse, and three counts of child endangerment after her 8-month-old died. According to investigators, the infant was left unsupervised in a bathtub with the water running. Emergency crews responded to the home on September 12 for an unresponsive infant, and three children between 8 months and 8 years old were in the house at the time.

Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman called the death heartbreaking, saying caregivers have a fundamental duty to protect children and that his investigators remain committed to seeking justice. The severity of the charges reflects how seriously authorities are treating the case, which has resonated far beyond the D.C. suburbs.

For families here on the Suncoast, where so many grandparents and relatives help raise young children, the safety reminder is direct: with an infant in the tub, eyes stay on the baby every second, and the water never runs unattended. If you’re a caregiver who feels overwhelmed, reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not failure. Where do you turn when you need a hand with the little ones? Let us know in the comments.
