Florida’s race for governor is down to its final days, and both candidates spent part of this week making their case directly to Suncoast voters. Democrat David Jolly brought his “Believe in Better” tour to Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center in Sarasota on Saturday, following a morning rally in Pasco County. He told supporters he’s encouraged by what he’s seeing in Sarasota County and that turnout will decide the election.
Republican Byron Donalds made his own closing argument in North Port on Wednesday, October 28, urging voters to get to the polls and framing the race as a choice about Florida’s future. The two stops share a common thread: both campaigns see Sarasota County as a place where the outcome gets settled.
Election Day is almost here, and the final-week attention on our area is a reminder that local turnout carries real weight in statewide races. Whether you’re a year-round resident, a seasonal visitor casting a mail ballot, or a first-time voter in Florida, the campaigns are counting on you to show up. Which local issue matters most to you as you cast your ballot this year?
