Police in Hillsborough County have released body camera video and 911 calls from Wednesday’s deadly attack at the Citibank complex, where one employee was killed and four others were injured. The recordings show what happened when a gunman drove over medians and through a security gate toward buildings that house more than 3,000 workers, armed with a rifle. An armed security guard confronted the shooter in the cafeteria and exchanged gunfire. The suspect was shot, taken to Tampa General Hospital, and later died.

Investigators are still working to confirm a motive and are examining whether a financial grievance tied to the bank played a role. Hundreds of law enforcement officers responded to the scene, including SWAT teams and armored vehicles. For employees and families across the Tampa Bay area, the release of the footage brings the events of that morning into sharper focus and raises difficult questions about security at large worksites.

As the Suncoast community processes what happened, the conversation turns to preparedness: how quickly can workers shelter, how are threats reported, and what role does armed security play?
