A NORTH PORT TEEN WAS ARRESTED AFTER SOMEONE SPOTTED HIM WATERING MARIJUANA PLANTS IN THE WOODS IN CHARLOTTE COUNTY. DEPUTIES SAY THEY WERE CONTACTED JUST BEFORE NOON TUESDAY REGARDING A SUSPICIOUS PERSON IN A WOODED AREA NEAR CREST STREET AND TARIKO AVENUE. DEPUTIES FOUND 19 YEAR OLD STEVEN KELLY THERE AND ASKED HIM WHAT HE WAS DOING. KELLY ALLEGEDLY CONFESSED THAT HE HAD SOME MARIJUANA GROWING IN THE WOODS AND HAD STOPPED BY TO WATER THE PLANTS. KELLY WALKED THE DEPUTY INTO THE WOODS WHERE THREE MARIJUANA PLANTS WERE IN THE GROUND AND TWO LARGE POTS WERE ABOVE THE GROUND. KELLY SAID HE PLANTED THEM ALL A WEEK AND A HALF AGO, AND DEPUTIES RECOVERED GARDENING TOOLS THERE. KELLY WAS CHARGED WITH CULTIVATION OF MARIJUANA. HE WAS TAKEN TO THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY JAIL, WHERE HE POSTED A $2500 BOND AND WAS RELEASED.
