A PORT CHARLOTTE MAN WAS KILLED AFTER HIS MOTORCYCLE WAS HIT BY A PICK-UP TRUCK. THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS 27 YEAR OLD MATTHEW HOOTS OF NORTH PORT WAS ATTEMPTING TO TURN LEFT FROM THE SOUTHBOUND HARBORVIEW ROAD EXIT RAMP OFF OF I-75 AT AROUND 5:45PM FRIDAY WHEN HE RAN INTO A MOTORCYCLE HEADING SOUTH ON HARBORVIEW THAT WAS DRIVEN BY 45 YEAR OLD JACK KING. THE IMPACT THREW KING FROM HIS BIKE. HE WAS TAKEN TO CHARLOTTE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER WHERE HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD. HOOTS WAS TREATED AT THE SCENE FOR MINOR INJURIES. TROOPERS SAY ALCOHOL WAS NOT A FACTOR, AND CHARGES ARE PENDING AGAINST HOOTS FOLLOWING THE COMPLETION OF THEIR INVESTIGATION.
