Winfield, Alabama police responded to a possible homicide call at 4:34 a.m. Saturday and found a woman shot dead in the kitchen of her home. According to investigators, her husband had already left the scene and had reportedly contacted a North Carolina sheriff’s office, telling them he had killed his wife.
Authorities say the man left with two children and forced a family member into a vehicle at gunpoint, directing that person to drive him out of state. The family member managed to escape and later gave investigators a detailed account of the shooting. The suspect is now in custody, and police confirm the two children and the family member are safe. Names have not been released, and the case remains active across multiple states.
