Babcock Ranch is grieving this week after the death of Kevin Reitz, the community’s operations manager for Community Association Management Company. Reitz was killed Saturday in a six-vehicle crash at the intersection of Six Mile Cypress Parkway and Daniels Parkway. Several others were injured and treated, including his girlfriend, Tammy Garner. He leaves behind six children.
Reitz began at Babcock Ranch as a maintenance supervisor and worked his way into operations, the kind of role that keeps a growing community running day to day. Friends remember him as unfailingly kind and always in a good mood. His friend Jason Liebman said Reitz will go down in history as a legend, and that his final moments were spent in a place he loved, among people he loved. To honor him, a remembrance area has been set up at the dock, one of his favorite fishing spots, for neighbors and coworkers to gather. Homes in Founders Square are lit orange, his favorite color, throughout the week, and a GoFundMe has been launched to support his family.
If you’d like to help, you can find the GoFundMe by searching Kevin Reitz Babcock Ranch.
