Attorney Ben Crump will join the family of 1-year-old Kohen Wiley at a noon Eastern news conference Thursday, hours after they viewed footage of the June shooting that killed the toddler in Senatobia, Mississippi. The footage includes three body-camera videos from Senatobia officers and two Walmart surveillance videos. Officer Hunter Foster, who stood in front of the moving vehicle, opened fire on the passenger side and later told another officer he could not see a baby inside.
The release came two days after Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s office determined the officers’ actions were justified. Police said two women accused of shoplifting fled the Walmart with Kohen in the car. The family’s public response marks the first time they’ve addressed the ruling and the video in their own words.
It remains unclear whether the family plans legal action. Crump’s involvement suggests they intend to keep pressure on the case. We’ll update this story as the press conference unfolds. Have you followed this case closely? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
