A Bradenton drug rehabilitation facility is trying to rebuild trust the old-fashioned way: by letting people walk through the front door. The Crossings held a public tour this week, months after a June incident involving a former client raised safety concerns among nearby residents. Leadership says the program has been rebuilt with new procedures, upgraded security, new staff, and an entirely new board of directors.
CEO Chad Dubin says every decision the facility makes centers on the safety of clients and the surrounding community. The tour also put a human face on the work. Staff member Molly Mead completed the program herself and returned two years later to work there, while current client Jodie Harris described recovery as anything but a lazy program, noting that clients are pushed to work hard toward a better life.
For neighbors around Bradenton, the story comes down to a simple question of follow-through: do the changes stick once the attention fades? The Crossings says anyone with questions is welcome to visit and see the changes in person. If you live nearby, would you take them up on that? Let us know what you think.
