A Monday morning collision on Havendale Boulevard ended with a car inside a Winter Haven daycare. According to Winter Haven police, a car and a Citrus Connection bus collided around 11:13 a.m. in the 1500 block of Havendale Boulevard. The car left the roadway and went through the front entrance of the daycare, where children were inside.
Five children were taken to a hospital to be checked for possible minor injuries, and the driver of the car was transported by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said everyone inside the daycare was accounted for. They have not said whether anyone on the bus was injured.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and no additional details have been released. The location raises familiar concerns for local parents, since several child care centers across Polk County sit directly on busy corridors like Havendale. As the investigation continues, families in the Winter Haven area will be watching for updates on the children’s conditions.
