A Charlotte County courtroom this week handed down a four-year prison sentence plus three years of probation to Angelica Clark, 33, who pleaded no contest to leaving the scene of a crash that killed 17-year-old Terrell Bruce. Investigators say Clark had been drinking before the collision at Willmington Blvd. and Coliseum Blvd., and that she admitted seeing Bruce as he rode his e-bike home from work before driving away.
Bruce was a junior at Lemon Bay High School with plans to become a veterinarian. His family filled the courtroom in red and black T-shirts bearing his photo on the front and a tribute on the back to the six people whose lives were saved through his organ donation. His mother, Lyndsay Bruce, told the court she is living a life sentence of her own. His sister, Aubrey Deming-Hernandez, asked Clark to look at her brother’s face and understand the life she took.
