Clocks Fall Back November 1: Suncoast Sunsets Arrive Nearly an Hour Earlier

Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 2:00 a.m., when clocks across the Suncoast fall back one hour to 1:00 a.m. and the region returns to Eastern Standard Time. The change delivers an extra hour of sleep and brighter mornings for walkers, joggers, and golfers, but it comes with a noticeable trade: Sarasota’s sunset shifts from about 6:47 p.m. on October 31 to roughly 5:46 p.m. on November 1.

For communities from Sarasota to Punta Gorda, that earlier darkness reshapes the evening. Waterfront restaurants light their patios sooner, boaters lose their after-work window, and beachgoers planning sunset strolls need to head out earlier. Smartphones and computers will update automatically, but kitchen, vehicle, and appliance clocks require a manual reset.

Florida’s 2018 Sunshine Protection Act called for permanent Daylight Saving Time, but the state needs Congress to authorize it. A federal proposal approved by the U.S. House in July 2026 remains pending in the Senate. Until that changes, Daylight Saving Time returns Sunday, March 14, 2027. How are you spending your extra hour this weekend?
