A 74-year-old Delaware man is facing manslaughter charges after state police say he fired from a ground blind at what he believed was a deer and instead struck a woman walking through an Ellendale field. Santos Maria Chilel Soto, 39, was with a man and two children Friday evening when she was shot. Troopers responded around 7:40 p.m., and she died later at a hospital.
The suspect, Walter Moorhead, was arrested at the scene and later posted a $43,000 cash bond. Delaware State Police say the investigation remains active.
