A 67-year-old Wichita woman is at the center of a homicide investigation after her body was found inside a suitcase that two people brought to a fire station on September 16. Police have confirmed they are investigating the death of Loretta Moody as a homicide and have questioned the individuals who delivered the suitcase.
Moody’s granddaughter, Alexis Trotter, has spoken publicly for the first time, remembering her grandmother as a loving woman who was full of life and devoted to her family. “This is just evil. There’s no other word for it,” Trotter said. She added that her grandmother “wouldn’t want to be known as the person who showed up in a suitcase at a fire station. She would be wanting to be known as the loving woman she was.”
The family has set up a GoFundMe to help cover memorial and funeral expenses. Wichita police homicide investigators are asking anyone with information to call 316-268-4407. No arrests have been announced, and the case remains open.
