An LSU football player is accused of sexually assaulting a student on campus in October 2025, and the East Baton Rouge District Attorney’s Office has now opened a criminal investigation. The player’s name has not been released. DA Hillar Moore said the matter was first brought to his office for review on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, and that he has requested all reports, interviews, evidence, and other relevant records from LSU Police and Baton Rouge Police.
According to LSU, the athlete first reported the matter to police himself, but no criminal complaint was filed at the time. A campus-level investigation involved both LSU Police and Baton Rouge Police. The alleged victim later shared a social media video about the incident, citing severe anxiety. Now that a criminal complaint has been filed, the university says its role is to continue cooperating with law enforcement partners. LSU President Wade Rousse said safety and security must be the number one priority.
The central question hanging over this case is the timeline.
