Turning Points brings its 28th annual Manatee County Stand Down to the Manatee County Fairgrounds in Palmetto on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, from 8 a.m. to noon. More than 50 agencies will gather in one place to offer free meals, haircuts, medical and dental care, clothing, and employment resources. Organizers say consolidating everything on one site removes the barriers that keep people from getting help, and the event is open to veterans, non-veterans, families, and community members experiencing homelessness. Last entry for services is 11:15 a.m.
A Veterans Amnesty Court, with a judge from the 12th Judicial Circuit on hand, will address eligible fines and legal matters. The career fair includes employers such as Manatee and Sarasota county governments, the School District, Goodwill, and CareerSource. For anyone without reliable transportation, a free shuttle will run from the Downtown Bradenton Transit Station to the fairgrounds. Christ Church of Longboat Key is the title sponsor.
Margi Dawson, director of development for Turning Points, says the whole community is invited to come get connected to resources, and that the morning includes music and plenty to do. Beyond services, organizers frame the Stand Down as a chance for neighbors across the Suncoast to show up for veterans and families who could use a hand. Admission is free and no registration is required. Will you be heading to Palmetto on Saturday, or do you know someone who should?
