Three Navy sailors assigned to Naval Air Station Pensacola died early Saturday after their westbound vehicle struck a barrier at M Street and caught fire. All three were pronounced dead at the scene, and the Navy confirmed the deaths in a statement mourning the loss of its shipmates. The sailors were identified as Aviation Ordnance Man Airman Apprentice Dracon Bagley, Aviation Ordnance Man Recruit Francois Longdubate, and Airman Apprentice David Deanda. Two were assigned to the Naval Air Technical Training Center, and one to Naval Aviation Schools Command.

Anyone who has lived in the Pensacola area knows how much this community is built around the base. These were young service members still in training, and the loss reaches well beyond the gates. Naval Education and Training Command spokesperson Cmdr. David Gardner confirmed the assignments, and the Navy said chaplains are providing grief counseling and support to shipmates and families.

The cause of the crash remains unclear and the investigation is active, so official answers will take time. For now, the focus is on the three families and the sailors who trained alongside them. Navy chaplains are available to anyone on base who needs to talk.
