An 11-year-old Blue Ash, Ohio boy was found dead during a welfare check on October 23rd after a neighbor reported days with no activity at the home. Cohen Slusher lived there with his grandmother, Trina Holcomb, who had held legal custody since 2018 while Cohen’s mother was in drug rehabilitation. Holcomb was taken to a hospital, and her condition has not been released. The cause of Cohen’s death remains under investigation.
According to family members, the case carries a heavier history: two of Holcomb’s adult children, a daughter and a son, also died in the same home within the past five years. Cohen’s mother, Lynsey Moore, says she last saw her son about three weeks ago and is working to regain custody. She has asked publicly for answers, including whether her son suffered.
For families, the story raises a practical question that applies well beyond Ohio: what do you do when a house on your street goes quiet? Police here regularly encourage neighbors to call for a welfare check, even when it feels like overstepping. The investigation continues in Blue Ash, and we’ll share updates as they come.
