A shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, on Thursday afternoon left at least two people hospitalized, with children among the injured, according to police. The suspect was shot and killed inside the school, though investigators have not yet determined whether a bystander or a police officer fired the fatal shot. The first emergency call around 1 p.m. reported a gunshot fired into a car, and within minutes additional callers reported an active shooter at the school.
Families were directed to reunite at Journey Church, near the Goodwill and the Dairy Queen, and the public is being asked to avoid the area while the investigation continues. So far, officials have released no information on the condition of those hospitalized or whether the injured children were transported to a hospital.
