Over 4 Million Toothpaste Tubes Recalled, Including Barbie, Hot Wheels and Crayola Brands — What Suncoast Families Should Check

More than 4 million tubes of toothpaste are under recall, and the list includes the character brands many Suncoast families keep in the kids’ bathroom: Barbie, Hot Wheels, My Little Pony and Crayola. Evo advanced whitening and sensitive toothpastes, along with ARU gum health and cavity protection, are also affected. All of the recalled products were distributed by Ashtel Studios Inc. of Ontario, California, and sold nationwide, so they could have landed on local store shelves.

The recall was initiated Sept. 10, 2026, and upgraded to a Class II recall on Oct. 22. According to the FDA, a Class II classification means use of the product could cause temporary or medically reversible health effects, but the probability of serious harm is remote. The stated reason is deviations in current good manufacturing practice; the agency did not provide further details about what those deviations were.

For area households, the practical step is to check the labels on toothpaste tubes in every bathroom, guest room and beach bag, especially with snowbird season bringing family visits. Products that match the recall should be set aside and returned to the point of purchase for refund questions. Have you checked your cabinets yet? Let us know what you found.
