On Thursday, September 24, ReImagine Dance turns Encore Live into a celebration of what young people can do when a community removes the obstacles in front of them. The Sarasota organization serves dancers ages 7 to 24 with disabilities, working around physical, financial, mobility and societal barriers so that every participant gets the same shot at the stage.
The evening runs from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at 8341 N. Lockwood Ridge Road, with the ReImagine Dance performance starting at 5:30 p.m. sharp. Admission is free, and donations are encouraged. Those donations fund dance instruction, shoes, costumes, class supplies, recital expenses and volunteer preparation. There are raffle and auction items as well, and community supporters like Soul Studios, Jack’D Up and others are backing the night. Once the performance wraps, the Sarasota band Jack’D Up takes over from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. with rock, pop and party favorites.
ReImagine Dance’s own motto sums up the spirit of the event: our ability is stronger than our disability. It is a free, family-friendly evening that puts local young dancers in the spotlight and gives the Suncoast an easy way to support them. Will we see you at Encore Live on September 24?
