Actress Selma Blair was arrested Sunday night after allegedly attempting to open a cabin door on a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York City. According to reports, two flight attendants were injured during the incident, one reportedly struck and another bitten. Port Authority police responded to the aircraft at the gate around 11 p.m., took Blair into custody, and she was later transported to a hospital for evaluation.
A representative for Blair said the actress experienced a medical emergency that caused the alleged conduct. The FBI is now investigating the alleged assault onboard the aircraft, and charges have not yet been announced. Blair, 54, is known for roles in films including “Cruel Intentions” and “Legally Blonde.”
The story raises difficult questions about in-flight safety, how medical crises are handled at 30,000 feet, and what protections flight crews deserve. Travelers across the Suncoast know how much we rely on flight attendants to keep things calm and safe from takeoff to landing.
