Six Flags Closes Nine Coasters After Fatal Fall at Georgia Park: What Suncoast Families Should Know

A man reportedly fell to his death from the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia on Monday afternoon in Cobb County. Witnesses say several other riders were injured or left stuck on the coaster afterward, and the park closed for the day. Cobb County Police and Six Flags officials have not said what happened or identified anyone involved.

In response, Six Flags temporarily shut down nine similar roller coasters across six parks, including Raging Bull in Illinois, Nitro in New Jersey and the Goliath in California. Coasters were also closed at Kings Island, Carowinds and Canada’s Wonderland. The company said the closures are out of an abundance of caution and that guest and team member safety remains a top priority.

There’s no Six Flags on the Suncoast, but plenty of local families make the drive to Tampa or Orlando for the big coasters, especially during snowbird season and school breaks. If a park trip is on your calendar, check ride availability before you go, and keep an eye on how the investigation develops in the coming days.
