A disturbing case out of Cornelius, Oregon has local families on alert after police uncovered a hidden room inside a jewelry store. The investigation began when a juvenile victim walked into the Cornelius Police Department to report an assault. That report led deputies to Blue Sapphire Jewelry LLC, where 42-year-old Daniel Le Brun had barricaded himself inside with guns and knives.
Authorities used a drone to track Le Brun’s movements before taking him into custody around 1 a.m. Friday. He was hospitalized after ingesting a potentially lethal amount of medication, then booked on charges including attempted murder, assault, sex abuse, and weapon counts. A subsequent search of the store revealed a concealed room where investigators believe the alleged crimes occurred.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says they are concerned there may be more victims and believe Le Brun had access to children through his business. They are urging anyone with information to come forward. This case is a sobering reminder that communities work best when people look out for one another.
