President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance wrapped up two days at the American Airlines Center in Dallas this week, part of a push to get Republican voters to the polls for the November 3 midterms. Trump asked the crowd to swear they’d vote, then warned what happens if they don’t: “You know what happens if you don’t vote? You go to hell.” He also said he plans more than 30 rallies before election day.
Democrats weren’t quiet during the visit. They hosted counter-events in Dallas arguing that Trump and congressional Republicans have not delivered on their promises, with the cost of living as their central message. Vance fired back from the stage, calling Democrats “the party of hatred” and saying they’ve strayed from the traditions of FDR, JFK, and Bill Clinton.
For Suncoast voters, this is the opening stretch of a long campaign season. Control of Congress shapes taxes, regulations, and the everyday costs that retirees and working families here feel, from insurance to groceries. With three dozen or more rallies on the calendar, expect the volume to keep climbing all the way to November.
