University of Alabama Suspends Kappa Alpha Psi Chapter Through 2030 Over Hazing Investigation

The University of Alabama has suspended the Eta Chi chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. through May 2030, according to the school’s End Hazing website. The decision follows an investigation into hazing that took place off campus in September 2025 involving seven people.

According to the report, new members faced verbal and physical abuse, forced personal servitude, physical discomfort, and degrading activities. Some members were injured, and new members were allegedly given alcohol and drugs. The matter was reported through an anti-hazing hotline about a month after the incident, the investigation concluded in May, and no arrests were made.

For Suncoast families with students heading to large Southern universities, the story raises familiar questions about Greek life oversight, the role of anonymous reporting, and whether multi-year suspensions serve as adequate deterrents. Hazing injuries remain a national concern on college campuses, and accountability at major SEC schools draws attention well beyond Alabama.
