Two employees of a United Rentals location in Manassas City, Virginia, died Wednesday after police say a coworker opened fire at the business around 7 a.m. Ricky Lamont, 48, and Christopher Serrano, 33, were taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead. A third victim remains hospitalized. Authorities identified the suspect as Marvin Grant, 37, who fled the scene after the shooting.
Virginia State Police later spotted Grant on southbound Interstate 81 in Augusta County, roughly two hours southwest of Manassas. What began as a traffic stop became a pursuit. According to state police, Grant pulled over at mile marker 227, exited his vehicle with a firearm pointed at his head, and shot himself. He was transported to a hospital where he died. Investigators say troopers never discharged their weapons, and the incident remains under review.
