A Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin man is facing stalking and stolen property charges after authorities say he harassed an ex-girlfriend for 13 years, following a relationship that ended in 2013. Investigators say 47-year-old Benjamin Larson sent letters, cards, and emails, and filed complaints with her professional licensing boards when she didn’t respond. His own journals, according to court records, described the behavior.
An August search warrant at his home brought the case into stranger territory. Deputies reported finding human skulls, skeletal remains in a glass casket, serial killer memorabilia, and a jar labeled as containing a piece of John Wayne Gacy’s brain. Larson told investigators he inherited some of the bones and found others in his yard. A forensic anthropologist determined many of the remains are likely ancient Native American in origin, and three skulls were confirmed as Native American artifacts, which led to a charge of concealing stolen property.
A judge lowered Larson’s bond but ruled he must hire his own attorney based on his income and assets. He returns to court November 5 and needs representation in place before then.
